About the Event
Attendees will learn introductory-level information regarding neuroscience, somatic symptoms, the body's stress response, as well as how how to use Mindfulness and Expressive Arts to support self-care.
Participants will learn how to identify where they carry stress and/or trauma in their body (somatic, they will learn how to pay attention to what their bodies are telling them. Participants will also learn how neuropathways are formed based on our implicit and explicit learning, how trauma impacts the formation of neuropathways, and how neuroplasicity (the ability to change your brain) can help you overcome negative thinking and stress responses. Participants will also learn about the nervous system's stress response and polyvagal connection. Finally, participants will learn how to utilize Mindfulness and Expressive Arts to support self-care creating a sense of grounding and calm to help self-soothe and regulate their emotions as a means to manage stressors. The workshop is interactive, their will be exercises to engage in, when expressive arts are utilized basic art supplies will be needed these can be purchased at any art store, WalMart, Target, and some even at Dollar Tree.
This is an online psycho-educational workshop, consisting of 6 weeks. We will meet for 1.5 hours every Monday afternoon from 12:00pm (EST) to 1:30pm (EST). The cost of the course is $30.00 session / $150 paid in full (1 free session).
